Sorority rush fashion basics

Guest post written by Kelly Ann Myers

Sometimes it’s really helpful to be the youngest of three sisters. You could say that I’ve learned from a lot of my sisters’ mistakes and from good decisions, too. I’ve gotten plenty of tips and good advice from them over the years, whether they meant to give it to me or not. But one thing that I’m asking them about right now is college and more specifically, rushing for a sorority.

Both of them have given me a pretty good amount of advice on it, but I’ve also been doing some research on the subject on my own time, too. When I was doing some of that research the other night, I saw the website clear-Internet.COM and sent it to my mom. She’s been shopping around for a new internet provider anyway.

The thing that I’m most worried about is sorority rush fashion. Even though I have what I would consider good style, I want to make sure that it’s in line with what’s expected of me during rush. I don’t want wearing sandals when I shouldn’t affect my chances!

Saying A Prayer For The Weekend Weather Scare

I’m so glad that I switched over to Direct TV. I just hope that we don’t lose power over the weekend due to the up and coming arrival of the hurricane that we have been watching the progress of on our new Direct TV system. I have always wanted a generator for the house just for occasions such as this, but we haven’t had the extra money lately to put into something like this. Right now my main concern is finding a home security system to have installed so I have Googled “home security cordova” to see what kind of deals I can find.

Since the economy doesn’t seem to be letting up at all, there has been more and more home break ins and robberies happening and I just don’t feel safe anymore. Even though we really don’t have much of anything of value around here they could still walk away with some of the electronics and really trash the place searching for more things that we might possibly have and that just wouldn’t be cool. We have worked hard for the things that we have.

In the mean time I’m praying that these hurricane doesn’t hit as hard as they are saying it could hit. Be safe.

A Mother’s Work Is Never Done

Our oldest son has always had issues with his teeth, and now that he is grown and out on his own I’m afraid that he isn’t taking his oral hygiene as seriously as he should be and I’m not happy about it one bit. I have spent so money on this kid’s mouth that it just isn’t funny and to think that he isn’t following up on all the time, money, effort and work that has been put into that mouth of his just jerks my chain.

His girlfriend sent me an email today informing me that she thinks that he needs to see a Periodontist and is asking me to step into the picture and urge him to find a Periodontist that will take his insurance and is taking new patients. So I have decided to do a bit of the leg work for him and went to smilegeneration.com to see if I could find a Periodontist for him. I love how the Internet makes a task such as this a much easier task to tackle, it sure beats thumbing through the Big Yellow Book trying to find what you want and need. I don’t even have any phone books in my house any more, they were just taking up space and collecting dust so as soon as one arrives at the end of the drive way they go straight into the paper recycling bin and good riddance to them all.

So I did find a couple of Periodontists that fit the bill and I have sent him an email with the information that is needed and I can only hope that he takes it from there, if not I guess I will have go into my “nag” mode and I really don’t like going there any more than I have to.

Who are you?

Sometimes I wonder if my sister and I even came from the same parents, living in the same house, went to the same schools or what. Like today for example I was telling her about the most wonderful Adirondack chairs that I had found online. I have been wanting to add a lot of goodies to my back and side yard. Of course I have all ready got the playground equipment for the kids and have a small plot of land all most ready for a garden next year. But I have a vision in my head of some lovely Park Benches and maybe a couple of Picnic Tables as well in my yard that I plan on entertaining in for many years to come. And this vision will take me some time and some money to put together just the way I want it.

Anyway, back to my sister. Our neighbors that lived next door to us when we all still lived at home, had the most wonderful Adirondack Chairs on the side porch. The same porch that they called their sleeping porch, which I always loved the idea of and lord knows we all spent many nights sleeping on that same porch with their kids when they had sleep overs, and I know darned well that my sister was there on numerous occasions as well, but for some reason she does not remember the furniture what so ever, which is a shame, because apparently they made a big impression on me!

Sad news

I just read that the chain of bookstores, Borders, is going out of business! That is so very sad – we have a really nice Borders store in town that I enjoy going into. I read that all of the employees are going to be out of jobs! That is news that this economy simply does not need right now! So very sad…..
